"In 3,000 years no one has ever come up with a better system than the God-based Ten Commandments for making a better world. And no one ever will."

"What is the first of the Ten Commandments?"
"It might seem like an odd question, but it's not. Jews and Christians give different answers. The reason is that what we know as "The Ten Commandments" is, in the original Hebrew, "The Ten Statements." And since the Hebrew is the original, we begin with the first statement, which all religions agree, is: "I am the Lord your God who took you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage." This statement is so important that none of the other commandments make sense without it."

admin:

God is the ultimate, "Behavior Scientist." Nine out of ten of these statements refer to our behavior. The Ten Commandments are the greatest list of instructions ever devised for creating a good society. But such a society cannot be created or maintained if it is not based on truth. Exodus 20

God made these principles as simple as possible and no simpler. Review them as an adult, a child, a Christian, a secularist or an Atheist.

Change your thinking and change your life.

God Wants Us to Be Free

"Although the First Commandment ("I am the Lord your God") appears simple at first glance, it actually set into motion the most revolutionary idea in human history -- ethical monotheism, the belief that there is one God whose main wish is that people treat each other decently. Dennis Prager explains that without this commandment, the following nine mean little. With it, the Ten Commandments becomes world-changing."

There Are More Idols than Ever

"Today, the idea of idol worship feels ancient and remote to many people. Thus, the Second Commandment, "You shall have no other gods," doesn't seem applicable in modern society. But the opposite is true. We have more false gods than ever -- art, education, fame, money, to name just a few. Over the past century the worship of false gods has led to massive evil; Communism and Nazism are just two examples. On a personal level, the worship of false gods leads to unhappiness."

"Worship the God of the Ten Commandments and you will make a good world. Worship a false god — no matter how noble sounding — and you will end up with evil."

The Worst Sin You Can Commit

"Not all sins are equal. Some are worse than others. The worst of one of all? Committing evil in the name of God. This commandment is often misunderstood because it's mistranslated. It's not concerned with saying God's name "in vain" like "God, did I have a terrible day at the office." It's about using God's name in the commission of evil. We see this today when Islamists invoke God's name while they murder innocent people. "

Don’t Be a Slave

"Setting aside a day of rest each week was a revolutionary concept when it was first introduced as the Fourth Commandment. But this Commandment does more: it extends that day of rest to slaves and animals and thus set in motion the slow process of ending slavery and the compassionate treatment of animals. As Dennis Prager explains, the power of the Fourth Commandment to change your life is no less real today than it was for our ancient ancestors. Just ask the spouse of a workaholic how she would feel if her husband took off a day each week to spend with family and friends. "

Even if You don’t Feel Like It

"Children owe their parents one thing. And no, it's not love. The Fifth Commandment understands that sometimes it's difficult or even impossible to love your parents. But it's almost always possible to honor them. Dennis Prager explains what that means and why it's so important. And consider this: if your children see you honoring your parents they are much more likely to honor you."

You Can Kill, but You Can't Murder

If asked to state this Commandment, most people would say "Do Not Kill." This is understandable because the classic King James Bible translates it this way. But the English language has changed since 1610. Furthermore, Hebrew has two words for killing just as English does. The correct translation, as Dennis Prager explains, is "Do Not Murder." Once you grasp this, the meaning of the commandment changes entirely.

The Best Way to Protect the Family

Why do the Ten Commandments single out adultery as particularly harmful? Because adultery can destroy the foundational unit of a society -- the family. If exposed, adultery leads to sense of betrayal. If hidden, it forces the offending spouse to lie. Children are often the unintended victims. This may be one of the most difficult Biblical laws to follow, but it's also one of the most important.

Keep This and You’ll Keep Them All

There is one commandment that, if followed by all of humanity, would instantly create a peaceful world: Do not steal. The Eighth Commandment implicitly prohibits murder (stealing a life), slavery (stealing a person's freedom), adultery (stealing a spouse), humiliation (stealing dignity), and so many other sins laid out in the Bible. If there is one Commandment that summarizes the other nine, this one is it.

Lying Is the Root of Evil

The most important ingredient to building a moral society is truth, both inside and outside a courtroom. The prohibition against "bearing false witness" does not only demand that truth reigns supreme in a trial, but that it is a societal value throughout the culture. Bad things happen when people believe lies. With truth, we can build a decent society. Without it, even the other nine commandments won't help.

The One Thought You Should Never Have

"There is only one Commandment that prohibits a thought, and it is this: "Do not covet." Why does the Bible, which is preoccupied with behavior, legislate a thought? Because to covet, to want what belongs to someone else, is the root of the preceding four commandments and often leads to evil. Before someone murders, steals, lies, or commits adultery, the desire to take what is rightly someone else's usually comes first."

The 10 Commandments are God's statements on behavior.  Scripture goes into further detail on how to deal with our behavior, our Hurts, Habits and Hangups.

From a secular perspective, with respect to Hurts, Habits and Hangups (HHH), all compulsive behaviors (addictions) serve an emotional purpose.  All HHH are nothing more than symptoms of something else that is wrong in our lives. Think about it, when circumstances in our lives that we consider very important to us,  are compromised, we end up feeling helpless, trapped, powerless and out of control. Sometimes we are not even conscious of, "Why," we do what we do. All too often we attempt to regain control, escape the trap with displaced behaviors such as drinking, drugs, porn, anger or any habit or hangup. We as humans are always looking for control. We are always best choosing direct healthy behavioral responses, Christ Driven Behaviors,  to regain control. When we give Christ control, Christ returns that control to use through a Helper, the Holy Spirit. It is through surrender that we regain self-control, and then our actions exhibit the fruits of the Holy Spirit. Our beliefs do control our behavior. The fruits of the spirit begin in your thought life. The way you think determines the way you feel and the way you feel determines the way you act.
These concepts of emotions, feelings, control, thinking, values, motivation and purpose, are at the core of addiction science. They are also at the core of Christ's teaching with respect to our behavior. Together, they constitute the, "Synergy of Science and Scripture."

Consider this scripture as it relates to addiction science outlined above: Click on the scripture and know that God has a way to setting you free if you are willing to choose direct healthy behavior. If you are willing to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, you can change your thinking, you can choose to, "Intelligently Delegate," control to Christ and change your life-Forever.

1. Proverbs 29:11
2. Romans 12:2
3. 2 Corinthians 12: 9-10
4. John 14:16
5. Galatians 5: 22-23

Quick Navigation:

There is no reason why anyone with any hurt, habit, or hang up cannot be helped. The Person-God partnership simply needs to be more powerful than any hurt, habit or hangup.

Behind everything you do is a THOUGHT.

Every BEHAVIOR is motivated by a BELIEF.

Every ACTION is prompted by an ATTITUDE.

-----------------------------------------------------------

With respect to behavior, life is about, emotions, beliefs, thinking and control.

"A fool vents all his feelings, But a wise man holds them back."Proverbs 29:11 (Displaced Behaviors)

"Do not be conformed by this world but instead by the renewing of your mind." Romans 12:2 (Direct Behavior)

When you think and empower yourself and surrender control to God, when you Intelligently Delegate Control to God (2 Corinthians 12:9-10),

God returns that control to you with a, “Helper," the Holy Spirit, (John 14:16) a form of Reciprocal Innervation.

You regain control: "the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long suffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.

No longer are you subject to corrupted displaced thinking but instead are transformed by the renewing of your mind (Romans 12:2).

This is where science and scripture intertwine, where Christ Driven Behavior brings, values, control, cause, character and purpose driven behavior, the fruits of the spirit Galatians 5:22-23 .

------------------------------------------------------------

Proverbs 29:11 "A fool vents all his feelings, But a wise man holds them back."

Romans 12:2: Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.

2 Corinthians 12-9:“My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.”

John 14:16: "He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever—"

Philippians 2:13: "for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure."

Galatians 5:22-23 "the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long suffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

Ephesians 4:22-23 "...put away the old person you used to be. Have nothing to do with your old sinful life. It was sinful because of being fooled into following bad desires. Let your minds and hearts be made new."

Life is about finding Purpose. When you have a, "Global Purpose," in life, healthy direct assertive thinking and behavior follow.

Change your thinking, change your life!
