Father Posts On Facebook Over Son's Tragic Death From Drug Overdose

"Just over a week ago in early November 2014, Mike Stollings from Englewood, Ohio, voiced his tragic story over Facebook. He uploaded a chilling photograph of his 20-year-old son Jeramie Ratliff just a few hours after his son arrived to the funeral home. Why has Mike been so brave? He tells the world that nobody should go through the horror he is suffering now and hopes to save lives with his message."

Below is an excerpt from the father:

"those of you that use just for a little fun here and there. you don't have to use but you like to party a little. think for a second about how there are those around you with larger mental issues. like jeramie, he was carrying some mental baggage that even i can't comprehend. by partying with these people you encourage them and enable them to do it to use drugs as an escape. that is the every last thing people like this need. these people need actual help. these people need encouragement to heal in healthy ways. they need to feel genuine love and uplifting encouragement not encouragement to get high again. think about the influence you have on these people. think about the path of destruction being left behind.......people, learn from this. help make something positive from this tragedy. walk away from this lifestyle. find someone that loves you and ask them for help. don't let this become you. don't do this to your family. use our pain and anguish."

Do not be misled: “Bad company corrupts good character.” 1 Corinthians 15:33

Is it any wonder that God's greatest commandment is to love God and love others?

Addiction needs to be viewed from the inside out and not from the outside in. Why people drink and drug is important. Some kids party just to have fun or because the rest of their friends do it. Others like Jeramie party because it serves and emotional purpose. Circumstances in life cause overwhelming feelings of helplessness, powerless, feeling trapped and out of control. Speciously and tragically, addicts attempt to regain control through the quick fix or mood changer of drugs. Yes, addicts regain control, escape their personal trap by getting high, sometimes with fatal consequences.
The secret that often comes with maturity is to establish healthy behavior in order to regain control. This is easier said than done. Healthy behavior, can be taught. Christ Driven Behavior is healthy behavior, based on values and purpose. Peer pressure is everything. We all owe it to our friends to love one another and communicate that love.

The addiction field as a whole has struggled to find effective ways to help distraught family members. Christ Driven Behavior is designed specifically to empower family members through Scripture, through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. It teaches them how to take control of their lives, and as part of this process to change their interactions with the substance user in ways that promote positive behavioral change. When family members use scriptural, positive, supportive, non confrontational techniques, not only do they find ways to get their loved one into treatment, but the family members themselves feel better— specifically showing decreases in depression, anger, anxiety, hurts, habits and hangups and other medical problems. This is the Science of kindness, the synergy of Science and Scripture.

There is no reason why anyone with any hurt, habit, or hang up cannot be helped. The Person-God partnership simply needs to be more powerful than any hurt, habit or hangup.

Behind everything you do is a THOUGHT.

Every BEHAVIOR is motivated by a BELIEF.

Every ACTION is prompted by an ATTITUDE.

-----------------------------------------------------------

With respect to behavior, life is about, emotions, beliefs, thinking and control.

"A fool vents all his feelings, But a wise man holds them back."Proverbs 29:11 (Displaced Behaviors)

"Do not be conformed by this world but instead by the renewing of your mind." Romans 12:2 (Direct Behavior)

When you think and empower yourself and surrender control to God, when you Intelligently Delegate Control to God (2 Corinthians 12:9-10),

God returns that control to you with a, “Helper," the Holy Spirit, (John 14:16) a form of Reciprocal Innervation.

You regain control: "the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long suffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.

No longer are you subject to corrupted displaced thinking but instead are transformed by the renewing of your mind (Romans 12:2).

This is where science and scripture intertwine, where Christ Driven Behavior brings, values, control, cause, character and purpose driven behavior, the fruits of the spirit Galatians 5:22-23 .

“If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” 2 Corinthians 5:17.

------------------------------------------------------------

Proverbs 29:11 "A fool vents all his feelings, But a wise man holds them back."

Romans 12:2: Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.

2 Corinthians 12-9:“My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.”

John 14:16: "He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever—"

Philippians 2:13: "for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure."

Galatians 5:22-23 "the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long suffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

Ephesians 4:22-23 "...put away the old person you used to be. Have nothing to do with your old sinful life. It was sinful because of being fooled into following bad desires. Let your minds and hearts be made new."

Life is about finding Purpose. When you have a, "Global Purpose," in life, healthy direct assertive thinking and behavior follow.

Change your thinking, change your life!
